There are four possible scenarios to accessing your email from the iPad. Find your scenario and follow the directions to set up your email. The major differences in the scenarios deals with who is using the iPad (is the iPad shared between more than one person or is the iPad for individual use) and which wireless network it connects to (Public or SDPBC).

Scenario A ~ Shared iPad connected to the Public Network

  1. Email cannot be accessed on a shared iPad connected to the Public Network. If your iPad is not on the SDPBC Network, go to this site from the iPad and install the profile from there. You must be located on SDPBC property and login with your district credentials. (You can still use the iPad on Public while waiting for Field Support to connect your iPad.)

Scenario B ~ Individual iPad connected to the Public Network

  1. If your iPad is not on the SDPBC Network, go to this site from the iPad and install the profile from there. You must be located on SDPBC property and login with your district credentials. (You can still use the iPad on Public while waiting for Field Support to connect your iPad.)
  2. Set up a passcode lock on your iPad. Do not forget this passcode. If you forget the passcode to your iPad, you will be forced to wipe the entire device and lose any data since the last sync with iTunes.
    1. Tap Settings > General > Passcode Lock
    2. Tap Turn Passcode On
    3. Set and Confirm your Passcode
    4. Tap Require Passcode
    5. Set to After 5 minutes or lower
  3. To set up your email, visit the Google Resource Center [Username and Password Required] and click on the Mobile Device Set-Up tab.
  4. Click the Personal Mobile Device Setup Instruction PDF.
  5. Follow the directions for Steps to set up an iPhone Mail Connection.

Scenario C ~ Shared iPad connected to the SDPBC Wireless Network

  1. Do not set up your email in the Native iPad Mail App as anyone that uses the iPad will have full access to your email. Use the web version to access your mail.
  2. Tap Safari.
  3. Go to www.palmbeachschools.org.
  4. Tap the Google Mail link at the top of the page.
  5. Log in with your District Username and Password.
  6. Be sure to sign out when finished.

Scenario D ~ Individual iPad connected to the SDPBC Wireless Network

  1. Set up a passcode lock on your iPad. Do not forget this passcode. If you forget the passcode to your iPad, you will be forced to wipe the entire device and lose any data since the last sync with iTunes.
